Wonkainitiallyopenedto some $39 million at the domestic box office in its opening weekend. TheAquamansequel took thebox office’s top spotin the Dec. 22-24 weekend when it grossed $27.7 million upon release. According to Box Office Mojo,Wonka’s success this past weekend has driven its domestic gross up to $140 million, with the film collecting $384 million worldwide so far.
