Stefon Diggs, a wide receiver for the Houston Texans, and Trevon Diggs, a cornerback for the Dallas Cowboys, are a pair ofNFL brotherswho have reached the top of their games.
Stefon led the league in receiving yards and receptions in 2020, while Trevon recorded the most interceptions in the NFL in 2021. The All-Pro brothers grew up close with one another and Stefon is still in awe that they both play in the NFL.
“I think it’s cool as hell,” Stefon told theWall Street Journalabout being in the NFL with his brother. “It’s a small group of guys with siblings. It’s probably not as cool for me as it is for my mom. She’s got a special womb or something, she’s pushing out the athletes.”
The brothers are close with their mother as she became a single parent supporting them after Stefon and Trevon’s father, who played a large role in their football development, died. Stefon had to take on a paternal role early in life and Trevon has been grateful for his brother’s guidance.
“I’ve relied on him a lot because he went through everything, he did the whole draft process, he did the whole college thing, the whole high school thing,” Trevon said of Stefon, according toThe Dallas Morning News. “He is my father figure. It’s just a blessing to have him, just to ask him questions.”
In April 2024, Stefon wastraded to the Houston Texansafter four seasons with the Buffalo Bills, which means the brothers will be living in the same state again. In a post onX(formerly Twitter), Trevon reacted to the trade, writing, “3 #1’s is crazy.”

Aron was largely responsible for getting the boys into football before he died in 2008 at 39, while Stephanie worked as an attendant at Amtrak for nearly 30 years before her recent retirement. Their boys were always competitive growing up.
That competitiveness never deterred the brothers’ determination to support each other. Trevon would attend all of Stefon’s games in college and Stefon invited him to come on campus regularly.

“You needed a father just like I needed a father, but I knew what pops told me. I still think about it to this day. He told me ‘Take care of your little brothers,’ ” Stefon wrote. “Even though there will always be a huge hole in our hearts, I feel like he gave me a mission, which I feel like I did the best way I know how and that is to guide, provide and protect.”
Aron would take his kids for intense workouts at local parks after school, which was one of the duties Stefon continued doing with Trevon after their father died.
“He’s like my dad, honestly. He was there for me when my father passed, so he’s always taken care of me,” Trevon said toNFL.com, “I’ve always asked him about everything, no matter what. At 2 o’clock in the morning, I’m asking him questions. I called him last night … every day. I’m asking him about his experiences, his process, how he manages. There are a lot of things I ask him.”

Stefon was one of the top recruits in the nation coming out of high school, which led to offers from colleges with prestigious football programs like USC and Ohio State. However, he wanted to be close to home so he could continue his fatherly role to Trevon and his other brothers, so he went to the University of Maryland to play football.

The work ethic instilled in the Diggs brothers shines through in their achievements. Trevon recorded 11 interceptions, the key defensive statistic for cornerbacks, in 2021, which was the most in the NFL that season and the most in a single season in 40 years.
While Trevon excels on defense, Stefon excels on the offensive side of the ball and is regarded as one of the best wide receivers in the NFL. In 2020, he led the league with 127 receptions and 1,535 receiving yards, which are two of the key statistics for wide receivers.
Trevon and Stefon still support each other with Trevon texting Stefon at halftime during games, which Stefon reads. Stefon is still mentoring Trevon to this day and also texts him during games.
“I always contact my brother before and after the game, but sometimes I text him during the games while he’s on the field,” Stefon toldESPNin 2022. “At times I’ll be like ‘Just sit on the route. Your pick is coming,’ and he’ll text me if he sees something during the game.”
“As soon as I go in the locker room, I knew he’d text me like if I’m having a bad game or doing something here he’d give me little words of encouragement like, ‘Come on, let’s go. Second half; shake it back,' ” Trevon said in the same interview.
