The 32-year-old shared a hotel room selfie on the social platform in celebration of her next chapter on Friday morning. “First selfie of freedom!” she captioned the pic. Gypsy’s mirror selfie showed her smiling with a hand on her hip.
Gypsy served eight years in prison after plotting to murder her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, with then-boyfriendNicholas “Nick” Godejohn. The man, who Gypsy met online, went through with the plan while Gypsy hid in the bathroom of her home.

Comments on Gypsy’s Instagram photo show support for her life outside of prison. Jennifer Turpin — the oldest of theTurpin siblings— shared a comment of support. “Awesome! Looking fab!😁❤️❤️❤️,” she wrote.
Others encouraged Gypsy to prioritize her mental health while readjusting to normal life. “YOU LOOK GORGEOUS GIRL! I hope you take the necessary time to adjust,” one commenter added. “Treat yourself with kindness and know that tons of people wish you well in this new chapter. 🫶”
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE before her release, Gypsy said she’d change the past if she could. “If I had another chance to redo everything, I don’t know if I would go back to when I was a child and tell my aunts and uncles that I’m not sick and mommy makes me sick, or, if I would travel back to just the point of that conversation with Nick and tell him, ‘You know what, I’m going to go tell the police everything,'” Gypsy said. “I kind of struggle with that.”
However, she’s clear about her regret over the death of her mother. “Nobody will ever hear me say I’m glad she’s dead or I’m proud of what I did. I regret it every single day,” she added.
