One of the good movie maker of all time , Francis Ford Coppola , hasn’t had a major theatrical releasein almost 30 years . or else , the humankind behind The Godfather , The Conversation , and Apocalypse Now has been make weird art films and his very own vino . And you make out what ? That sounds amazing . Good for you , Mr. Coppola .
Coppolaalso spent that time dreamingof something full-grown . Something new and wonderous . A moving-picture show so out there he knew Hollywood would n’t pay for it . So , using that wine money , he decided to ante up for it himself . The flick is called Megalopolisand after a long , long wait to bring in the dream project to the adult screen , the first prevue is finally here .

That ’s not what you were bear right ? It looks like a full trip : ancient Rome dress in a futurist New York City . So what ’s the narration ? It ’s there on the fringe of the trailer if you know it . The official logline show as play along :
Megalopolis is a Roman Epic fable set in an imagined Modern America . The City of New Rome must change , causing battle between Cesar Catilina ( Adam Driver ) , a genius artist who seeks to leap into a utopian , sublime time to come , and his opposition , Mayor Franklyn Cicero ( Giancarlo Esposito ) , who remains attached to a regressive position quo , perpetuating greed , special interests , and partisan war . Torn between them is socialite Julia Cicero ( Nathalie Emmanuel ) , the mayor ’s daughter , whose love for Cesar has divided her loyalty , draw her to discover what she truly believe manhood deserves .
What ’s not in that description is how Driver ’s character can , seemingly , change thing with his psyche , hold the picture a distinct sci - fi angle . And , of course , they ’re all joined by a star - studded cast that includes Shia LaBeouf , Jon Voight , Jason Schwartzman , Talia Shire , Dustin Hoffman , and Lawrence Fishburne , just to name a few .
Early word from distributors was that the movie is extremely uncommercial , which is n’t slap-up for a film that reportedly cost well over $ 100 million . But aEuropean distributoris on board in the lead of its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival this month . From there , maybe a U.S. electrical distributor will get behind it . Until now , there ’s no set release plan . But we ’re guessing that by later this year we ’ll finally have a prospect to accede the mind of one of film ’s ultimate schoolmaster .
