Over thepast four monthsin the run up to Star Trek : Discovery ’s return , CBS All Access released four excellent mini - sequence under the Short Treks streamer . Except they had a problem that was not quite as mini as the episodes : none of them were in reality available outside of the U.S. and Canada . That ’s finally changing .

As a surprise proclamation today — spotted byTrekMovie — confirmed that Netflix will now ventilate all four Short Treks episodes begin … well , the right way now basically . You wo n’t find them by explore for “ Short Treks ” however — here they are sit all passably in the “ Trailers & More ” section of Star Trek : Discovery ’s Netflix page in my UK account :

It ’s pretty much the pure way toget ready up for Discovery ’s season 2 premiere , which drops on Netflix internationally tomorrow , January 18 , and in the U.S. and Canada tonight . But even if you were n’t looking for something to get you in the Trek mode forwards of Discovery ’s income tax return , you should watch Short Treks anyway .

Each sequence was a delightful reminder of the very effective Star Trek has to offer — defend Roddenberry’snoble idealswith sport and a sense ofintrepid wanderlust , all drive bydeft character workanddelightful performances . In recap the serial publication for io9 , my only major ailment was that these stories were being treated as ancillary bonuses that not every Star Trek : Discovery sports fan could legally access . And now they ultimately are ! You really should plunge in and see what you nearly missed out on if you may .
