It ’s official : Steven Spielberg will channelise the movie version of Robopocalypse . Expect big , panoptic - screen , tentpole robot - revolution activity , come sometime in 2013 . And there are the first contingent on Daniel H. Wilson ’s next book after Robopocalypse . According to Deadline , Spielberg is officially on plug-in to direct Robopocalypse , with a playscript by Drew Goddard ( Cloverfield , The Cabin in the Woods . ) Spielberg was so excited about this labor that he started the ball roll when the novel was n’t even finished — as Wilson was finishing book pages , Goddard was turning them into hand pages and the pic was being storyboarded and designed on the go . Now the book is finished — it amount out next June — and Spielberg will start shoot in January 2012 . In the meantime , Spielberg is in stake - yield on his Tin Tin movie , plus War Horse , both of which will be out in December 2011 .
The Deadline clause also has details on Wilson ’s next book , AMP , which is set in a futurity where the technology to empower the disabled “ turns them into back breaker . ” ( And woman , I ’m guessing . ) That ’ll be out in the summer of 2012 . [ Deadline ]
