Boston Bruins player Milan Lucic pled not guilty to a charge of assault and battery during a hearing in Boston Municipal Court on Tuesday, according to multiple reports.
Lucic was charged with assault and battery on a family member. He was released on personal recognizance bail, per NBC’s reporting.
Lucic “appeared intoxicated when he answered the door,” according to the police report, and, “He stated to officers nothing happened and did not provide an explanation," officials said.
According to NBC, Lucic did not speak during Tuesday’s hearing except for when he addressed the judge.
Lucic’s bail conditions include a no-abuse order, per NBC, and Lucic is required to refrain from drinking alcohol for the duration of his case.
A pretrial date was scheduled for Jan. 19, but Lucic will not be required to appear in person, according to the reports.

He also played for the Los Angeles Kings, Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames before returning to the Bruins on a one-year, $1 million contract. The Bruins have placed Lucic on an indefinite leave of absence from the team.
