Bilateral gynandromorphs, half male and half female.

This butterfly is quite literally half male and one-half female person .

This circumstance is rare , but not unique . It ’s been spotted inbirds , insects andcrustaceansall around the humans . It ’s unheard of in humans and it ’s thought that it pass off differently in each of the groups listed above .

In insects the mechanism is fairlywell understood . A fly with XX chromosome will be a female person . However , an fertilized egg that loses a Y chromosome still develops into what search like an adult male , although it will be sterile . It ’s think that bilateral   gynandromorphism occur when two sperm get into an orchis . One of those spermatozoon fuze with the nucleus of the nut and a female insect break . The other spermatozoon developswithoutanother set of chromosomes within the same ballock . Both a male and a distaff louse develop within the same body .

There are several theory as to how this can occur in other animals , like birds . Some have intimate that these   bilateral   gynandromorphs   arechimeras , where two separate embryo safety fuse together early in development - essentially the antonym of very Twin Falls , where one fertilized egg separates into two . Another hypothesis is thatgynandromorphism in wench come when the sex chromosome are unable to split in the first jail cell division after fecundation .
